The woodturnings displayed on my website are constructed of multiple pieces of domestic and exotic hardwoods. This type of segmented construction, polychromatic, uses multiple wood segments glued together and then turned into the desired bowl shapes. My favorite woods are cherry, maple, poplar, red oak, walnut, purple heart, holly, yellow heart, zebra wood, wenge, and bloodwood. To get more information on the woods that I use click on the "WOODS" button in the black menu bar. Woodturnings are perfect for any type of interior decor. If you have a special type of wood that you would like to see in one of my woodturnings, use the contact form located at the top of the page to send me a message detailing the woodturning that you would like to see.
About Me - My name is Don Bowman and I started out woodworking several years ago (far too many) with building bookshelves, furniture, and interior wood work. I love working with wood. One day I went to an art show and saw the work of several turners. I told my wife that I would really like to try that some day. Within a couple of months my wife announced that a wood lathe would be arriving shortly. For the first couple of years gifts went out to friends and family until everyone had something. Then I turned to strangers and now I have added this web site. In the course of time I have become a member of American Association of Woodturners (AAW) and of the local woodturners club North Coast Woodturners (NCW). I hope you enjoy this site and the woodturnings that you see. And please after you view the site go to the contact button and let me know what you think about the site and the turnings, all comments are welcomed.
My wife Pat bought me my lathe. She has put up with me through these many years of marriage and is my strongest supporter and my best friend. This site is dedicated to the woman I love, my wife Pat. |
